Statement
The Peace and Justice Foundation (PJF) advances transitional justice as a comprehensive
framework through which societies confronting legacies of large-scale or systematic human rights
violations can pursue accountability, justice, and reconciliation. PJF supports and implements
mechanisms designed to address past abuses, including reparations initiatives, criminal
accountability processes, truth-seeking mechanisms, and institutional reforms aimed at
preventing recurrence. In doing so, the Foundation ensures that transitional justice
interventions are guided by fundamental principles of inclusive participation, gender
sensitivity, and non-discrimination, thereby safeguarding the rights and voices of affected
communities.
Operating at the intersection of human rights, development, and peacebuilding, PJF adopts a
holistic approach to transitional justice that addresses both the consequences and root causes
of systemic injustice. Through this integrated methodology, the Foundation works to recognize
and restore the rights of victims while contributing to sustainable peace, democratic
governance, and resilient communities. In alignment with international standards, including
those articulated by the United Nations, PJF promotes and facilitates a range of reparative
measures that may complement criminal justice processes, such as restitution, compensation,
rehabilitation, forms of symbolic satisfaction, and guarantees of non-repetition.
